Raspberry Pi OS update
The Raspberry Pi Foundation has another free update. They have upgraded the Chromium Browser to Version 84 which brings free updates and features. Unlesss you have downloades a webstore on your pi, the standard way to update Debian Distrobutions is the apt program in terminal. Type this or copy (ctrl-c) and paste in terminal ( ctrl-shift-v) this code: sudo apt update and sudo apt full-upgrade. you might have to hit y in terminal when it askes about space on drive and are you sure.
The sound is going from ALSA to Pulse Audio. The gist is you should get better sound. Paraphrasing the blog, Linux sound is a confussing mess where people keep writing better software which has bugs and different standards because there are evolving standards for sound. Pulse Audio is one on the more well known winners in this race. ALSA is another. Raspberry Pi OS folks are basicly betting on Pulse Audio and its resources are going there. This might affect older applications like sonic pi. The Raspbian team hopes this will be fixed soon by that team. Pulse Audio is well documented and this sould be fixed in the next version if there even turns out to be a problem. Good news is that Bluetooth headsets should work better.
Another major update is that they are further intagrating apples printing software CUPS into Raspberry PI. And put there own graphical interface on it in settings. CUPS is free to use and free software from Apple and works on linux and other unix systems.
As always live dangerously and update on your main rig and with no backups.
