Go Bag

Yesterday or was it two days ago. I was housebound. I went over the priorities of what we needed. I knew I should have everything I need, but it was all over the place. Unorganized in an emergency means you don’t have what you need. I have most of it. Stay tuned for the bonus, “What do I need to buy yet?”, at the end of the post.

Summary

I need to buy somethings in the end. Here is the shopping list. I have gone overboard on somethings. Here are some improvements that I could do. Or should I keep it lighter? Tweet or toot this out with this website via a short link to answer. #72hourLightorHeavy

  • A mess kit. I know I have one somewhere. The cup will work.

  • Non metal fork and spoon

  • hot chocolate packets, a must have! Comfort food. Herb mint tea. Couple of bullion cubes. Maybe Miso All just comfort drinks that are minimal volume addition.

  • Hand crank radio

    • I actually have one but to keep it charged and usable it is not in my kit

    • It is an Eton Frx3

 - features are flashlight, radio (am,fm,weather 7 band), alarm, clock, solar, dynamo, usb power in and out, aux out. 3x AAA battery backup power if you have them. This can replace so many things in your kit its my second favorite item.

  • 2 mil contractor bags. Tarp clips. Again minimal volume, massive amount of uses.

  • How did I miss a water bottle/canteen?! Metal or silicon collapsible, or cheap plastic. Each has uses.

  • coffee filters, screen mesh to filter big stuff.

  • collapsible bucket or home depot bucket shockingly I have none of this anywhere.

  • rechargeable battery for cellphone

A power bank is in my edc so I am not going to buy one. Should I have a backup? If I go there and back up my edc do I need a new burn phone, wallet, gerber box knife, company box knife, face covering, hand sanitizer, and pen/sharpee. Come to think of it, half of this could be in the go bag. Light or heavy. If I did plan for a complete disapearance maybe a phone and powerbank. Maybe a new post to look at. Set up a temporary one time use card via Modern Rogue’s privicy.com, and disapear. Back from the tangent what is in your 72 hour kit.

Look for the next post a value oriented 72 hour kit.
