Hope Going Forward with Life

Planing a To Do list with Priorities

I hit a road bump. Read to the end to find out what.

Starting a to do list is as simple as brainstorming or you can approach with a prioritized list. You probably have an idea of what you need, but writing out priorities can help you find where you lack. What are your priorities in life?

Your priorities are Hope, Shelter and related items, Water, Food, and personal growth. Stealing philosophy from “Jordan Perterson’s 12 rules for life,” clean your room and don’t make maters worse, Focus on these priorities first. Evaluate what you have and go forward.

Proved,Examined,and Tried

Focused on my situation of being an “essential” employee and being forced from work for the next two weeks,I am examining my situation to see if I am prepared. This is a good example of an opportunity for personal growth. I went down my checklist.

  • Hope

    • The Lord loves me calling himself Father.

    • I am grateful for a list of items. I may even journal them to make it formal.

    • For the personal problems I could face from quarantine to financial,to death of someone close to me, the Lords plan for happiness is still in effect. I still have control of the problems I control and I must trust Him for the problems and timing of what I can’t.

    • I am well fed and sheltered and now have time that I can plan with and use instead of doing these things after work. I should have started sooner.

  • Shelter

    • Check and backup check and camping gear check! Fire, check, Clothing check, and Car check.
  • Water

    • Piped to my house, 10 gallons, water filter and aqua tablets. Need to stock up on more water to get to 1 gallon per day per person for two weeks.
  • Personal Growth

    • Some private, some I can share. There is time to start a system that can go with some small maintenance to share as I go. I am building a website!

They say you can go 3 seconds without hope, 3 hours without shelter, 3 days without water, and 1 week without food. Personal Growth goes to relationships, talents, creativity, intellect, Spirituality, and wealth. What will you do with what your given and what you can develop? Remember It is contrary to the laws of heaven that there is no redemption. Which means there is a path forward. So don’t dawdle.

Hope

Hope is a Christlike attribute. Those with hope, can think without fear, plan to make things better, faith and the trust that goes with faith for the things we can’t change. In the more survivalist sence, your hope is what keeps you from giving up. In the woods, lost or with a broken something, it is hope of a rescue. It is looking at what you have with you and what you can grab from around you to see what you can do to extend your time. Those without hope will be lost in the darkness. Maybe they will give up and die, maybe they will follow the bread and circuses route numbing with excessive entertainment. People will numb themselves in busyness without purpose, or drugs until they hit rock bottom and need an AA, or NA group. The main steps in those group programs are to restore hope and get on a path.

Shelter

I have a house to live in. I just moved in with my parents to provide some help so they don’t have to go to a home prematurely. *If you read this far here is my road bump. My old place which we haven’t sold yet is coming in useful because my sister caught covid. My mother is an at risk category. We may lose her in the next two weeks. My sister is fine so far, and the rest of us are showing no symptoms,“as of yet” as LoTR seige said.(Lords of the Realm, Check out Good Ol Games website.) Shelter is not just a house or apartment. It is clothing, warm weather cold weather or specialty clothing. It is a heat source. House heater goes out, can you pull out a wood burning stove or Mr Buddy, or kerosene oil heater? Can you camp with a fire and sleeping bag? Use an mylar lined E-blanket? Things to think about.

Water

So water, it’s good stuff. The rule of thumb is, as I said above, (peopleqty)(daysqty)(1gal)= #gals. I have a couple of $30 gravity Sawyer Water Filters and a couple of $1 dollar store transfer pump. Sometimes those cheap pumps are sold for 3 to 7 dollar fuel pumps in automotive section of your local superstore. I have some 3 and 5 gallon water jugs. Every other payday I will consider buying another 8 dollar jug just to have more water. I stopped buying them when I found my sister using them for the fish aquarium. So I have 5 working jugs. I need to bleach out the others someday. Or buy more jugs. I have work to do. Does the fish tank with my Sawyer Water Filter count as water storage?

Food

So food. My problem is meal planning rather than having food. My grocery bills are mainly frozen vegetables, fresh vegetables, and Bread and Eggs. Nice problem to have. But if your poor, “Variety is the enemy of cheap.” Look up Frugal Fit mom on YouTube. Meals and some instruction on prep for under $100 bucks. Apples, strawberry, soup, peanut Butter, beans, rice, sugar, yeast and pasta made it a week for a big family. They obviously don’t live like that all the time but it was a challenge and can be done. The other shows that were interesting was her instapot freezer dinners, and her no knead bread.

Personal Growth

I don’t even know where to start on personal growth. But as Alux, a YouTube channel says, listen to books and podcasts to learn how to be what you want. Their channel is endlessly fascinating. I went to a class once that said if you want to be closer to God, study God’s Attributes, If you want to be rich then listen to books on how money works. I am mainly doing this blog and going to have a goal to design print on demand tee shirts as my creative enhancement. If it makes me money well, I read a book Rich Dad Poor Dad on the virtues of breaking out of the rules and entrepreneurship. You better bet that future blogs will have materials out of these podcasts and books I am researching.

Summary and bonus

Soon I will have a blog on what to put in a 72 hour kit and my overnight bag. I will have to have a bonus of what is in my car. In fact if I need a 72 hour kit, I will most likely need that car. My Bonus for those of you who unlike newspaper of old, is a link to my churches advice for “Provident Living”. Only one small part points to the Old Testament’s lesser law of tithing and it’s blessings. Most may not believe but the rest is sound advice about budgeting and living beneath your means. Hopefully that will be a start to your money journey. Baby steps!
